The International Consortium on Meningiomas (ICOM) is hosting a scientific day on Tuesday, May 21 as part of CNSF. Led by Dr. Gelareh Zadeh, this consortium was formed to increase awareness for this understudied disease and conduct cutting-edge meningioma research through international and multidisciplinary collaboration. This meeting’s program will feature updates on ongoing collaborative research as well as a practical overview of modern meningioma management, with themes including surgical management, biomarkers, clinical trials updates and more. We will also host a molecular tumour board where complex cases are reviewed by an expert multidisciplinary panel with opportunity for audience involvement. These sessions will be highly relevant to anyone involved in meningioma research or clinical care and all are welcome to attend.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the Current Landscape of Meningioma Research and Treatment: Attendees will gain comprehensive insights into the latest epidemiological trends, molecular pathology, and WHO classifications of meningiomas. This includes understanding the impact of genetic and molecular findings on the diagnosis, treatment planning, and prognosis of meningioma patients.
  • Learn about Surgical and Therapeutic Innovations in Meningioma Management: Participants will explore the advancements in surgical techniques, including open and endoscopic approaches, and the role of preoperative embolization. Additionally, updates on clinical trials, theranostics, and innovative treatment strategies in both European and North American contexts will be discussed. The objective is to enhance knowledge on how these innovations can improve patient outcomes and expand treatment options.
  • Evaluate Quality of Life and Survivorship Issues for Meningioma Patients: The conference aims to highlight the importance of quality of life considerations in the treatment and management of meningioma patients. This includes discussions on the challenges faced by special populations, the impact of treatments on quality of life, and strategies for addressing these issues in clinical practice. Attendees will learn about the latest research and practical approaches to support meningioma survivors in their recovery and long-term well-being.
