This session is aimed at Pediatric Neurologists (Community & Academic) and Pediatric Neurology Residents. The goal is to provide attendees with an update on new information in the field of Pediatric Epilepsy. The topic matter ranges from basic science, to clinical classification systems, to cutting edge therapies and diagnostic tools, to quality of life in patients after epilepsy surgery.

Learning Objectives:

Understand and evaluate the risk of epilepsy-related mortality in children and discuss this with patients, families, and colleagues
Describe the pathophysiology, diagnostic mechanisms, and managment of developmental epileptic encephalopathies
Understand the various forms of neurostimulation currently used to treat epilepsy and the associated benefits and challenges of each
Reflect on the long term impact that epilepsy surgery has on the quality of life of patients and families
