The Global Neurosurgery Course, offered by the University of Toronto, Temerty Faculty of Medicine, Department of Surgery, Division of Neurosurgery is designed to expose participants to the unique challenges and innovative solutions in providing neurosurgical care in under-resourced environments globally. This course emphasizes sustainable development, international collaboration, and capacity-building strategies to improve access to neurosurgical care and outcomes for patients worldwide.

Learning Objectives:

  • Promote Collaborative Partnerships: To foster and strengthen collaborative partnerships between the University of Toronto, Temerty Faculty of Medicine, Department of Surgery, Division of Neurosurgery and international neurosurgical programs, aiming to share knowledge, resources, and expertise to improve neurosurgical care and training globally.
  • Enhance Neurosurgical Capacity: To enhance the neurosurgical capacity in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) through education, training, and support initiatives, thereby improving access to quality neurosurgical care and reducing the global burden of neurological disorders.
  • To encourage and facilitate research and innovation in global neurosurgery, focusing on addressing unique challenges faced by different regions, developing sustainable solutions, and promoting the implementation of best practices in neurosurgical care worldwide.
