This afternoon session with cover the basics of nerve conduction studies, electromyography, and peripheral nerve ultrasound techniques. There will be something for everyone, from those who have never seen a study before to those heading into practice and those interested in the exciting future of paraclinical peripheral investigations.

Learning Objectives:

  • Review the basic technique and waveforms associated with nerve conduction studies and electromyography.
  • Develop an approach to reviewing nerve conduction studies and electromyography reports for the general neurologist.
  • Review frequently asked questions and commonly experienced pitfalls by residents learning about nerve conduction studies and electromyography.
  • Explore the evolving fields of peripheral nerve ultrasound and its use in general practice.
