Neurosurgery Residents' Course: Functional Neurosurgery

The afternoon session will focus on major functional neurosurgery concepts relevant to neurosurgery residents. The session will be tailored to cover important information useful to the general neurosurgical community.

Learning Objectives:

  • Name common conditions that can be treated with neuromodulation.
  • Understand rationale for patient selection and different anatomical targets.
  • Understand goals of treatment and possible side effects related to each anatomical target.
  • Name basic components of neuromodulation devices/circuits.
  • Review emerging technologies and future directions of neuromodulation that neurosurgical trainees may see in future practice.
