Complications remain uncommon and unfortunate occurrences in the high-risk field of neurosurgery. The purpose of this session is to invite various expert neurosurgical faculty to share their real-life experiences during procedural challenges that led to unanticipated outcomes. Moderators will invite audience interaction to learn from these difficult cases and share perspectives.

In deference to the presenting faculty and the potentially sensitive nature of topics raised, ABSOLUTELY NO PHOTOGRAPHY OR VIDEO RECORDING of the presentations or discussion will be permitted.

Learning Objectives:

  • At the end of this session, participants will be able to appreciate understand strategies to reduce complications occurring during neurosurgery.
  • At the end of this session, participants will be able to recognize high-risk situations when complications might happen and mitigate them.
  • At the end of this session, participants will be able to better communicate with colleagues about complications to review and discuss their occurrence for personal and professional self-improvment.
