This course will provide a practical approach to the use of high efficacy disease modifying therapies (DMT) in Multiple Sclerosis. We will address concepts such as who to start on high efficacy treatment, the benefits of early initiation of treatment, and treatment strategies (escalation vs induction). There will also be discussion on practical issues such as sequencing and switching between DMTs and DMT use during pregnancy. Finally, there will be an overview of progressive multiple sclerosis and available therapies.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the roles of currently available high efficacy DMTs in the treatment of multiple sclerosis, including benefits of early use of high efficacy therapy
  • Develop an approach to sequencing and switching between disease modifying therapies
  • Have an approach to treating multiple sclerosis before, during, and after pregnancy
  • Understand the current options for treatment of progressive multiple sclerosis, and potential future therapies
